Rene Wawrzkiewicz

Rene Wawrzkiewicz is a graphic designer and design curator. He is a graduate of the Graphic Design Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He is a co-creator of the MamaStudio design studio (2001-2008), and a co-founder of the Design Critique Platform and the Association of Applied Graphic Designers. He is the curator and coordinator of numerous initiatives and projects connected with Polish graphic design, including a series of exhibitions entitled "Design for Freedom, Freedom in Design" in Berlin, Tokyo, and Stockholm in the years 2011-2012, the "Graphic Knowledge Fair" (a graphic design festival) in the years 2011-2012, "Design of the Year" (Poland's first graphic design competition), "TypoBerlin" in 2013 and 2014 (presentation of Polish visual designers on the conferences), "Workshop" (project on the Istanbul Design Biennial in 2014) "TypoPolo" (exhibitions in Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw in 2014), "The Polish Exhibition of Graphic Symbols" (exhibitions in many cities in Poland 2015-2017) and "Warsaw Types" (new fonts inspired by the Warsaw's local typograhic heritage, 2016).
